Google’s shares pass $700 for the first time, lifted by reports it plans to enter the mobile phone market. Gold prices hit a 27-year high, rising on the back of surging oil prices and continuing dollar weakness. Oil prices continue their unremitting climb, passing $96 a barrel after figures showed a surprise fall in US reserves. Canadian dollar pulls back after hitting record overnight: 106.17 cents US.
